Nebraska Initial Educator Certification

  1. You must have acquired a college Degree
  2.  In order to receive a Nebraska Teacher Certification, you must have some experience in teaching, even if it’s unpaid.
  3. Complete the Human Relations Training Requirements
  4. Complete the Special Education Training Requirements
  5. Pass the Praxis I Pre-Professional Skills Test (PPST)
  6. Complete the Fingerprint and Background check
  7. College credit or employee experience within the last 5 years
  8. Submit the following:
    • Apply Online
    • Test scores
    • Fee for fingerprint/application processing
    • Official transcripts, degrees, and school credits

Nebraska Alternative Teacher Certification

Alternatively, there is another path you can take to get your teaching in Nebraska without completing the teacher education program.

  1. Obviously you must still earn your bachelors degree from a credited university. Ideally, you should always continue your education in efforts to earn a Master’s degree.
  2. Be at least 50% finished with your teacher education program
  3. Have experience with working within one of the Nebraska School Districts
