Traditional Approach for the North Carolina Teacher Certification

  1. Gain a degree from a college or university. Have transcripts.
  2. Teacher preparations. This will include teacher prep courses and student teaching.
  3. Pass the Praxis I and II Exams
  4. Submit the following:
    • Completed application form
      • Have your teacher verify the completion
    • Current certifications (if you already have one)
    • $85 Application fee payable to “Department of Public Instruction”
    • Official Transcripts of all degrees and credits you have earned
    • Copies of test scores
